Water is provided from three valves (Z1, Z2, and Z3). Z1 can deliver up to 5 m3
/min, Z2 – up to 8 m3
and Z3 up to 12 m3
/min. Design and optimize a structure of the circuit controlling the valves such that
the current demand for water is covered with the smallest possible excess, e.g. when the current
demand is 16 m3
/min, the valves Z1 and Z3 are opened and Z2 is closed.
In your design you can use only standard logic gates (NOT, AND, OR, NAND, NOR, XOR, and XNOR)
and flip-flops. For the circuit optimization, use either Boolean logic rules or the Karnaugh mapping
describe the design process in detail, derive the logic circuit diagram and prove that it
works according to the specification.
