The following is a typical project that might be encountered in the laboratory:

Two laboratories have analyzed cocaine levels in the same urine specimens using different methods. Are the results from the two laboratories equivalent?

Write a brief outline for a final report on the study listed above. Considering the small amount of information presented to you, most of the information in your report will be fictional. You might consider the following questions:

What and how many test subjects were used? Consider here that each test subject’s sample will be split and send to both labs (so if a sample originally contained 50 mL, then 25 mL will go to each lab for analysis)
What analytical tests were used? These need to be 2 different analytical tests – please see the link about cocaine analysis below
What does your fictional data look like? You need to come up with your own fictional data for this assignment. You can simply present in a table format or you can display it graphically using an Excel graph or alike.
What statistical methods did you use to interpret the data? Please see the links below – you may have to read up a bit on what statistical tests can be used to compare the data generated by each lab.
Did difficulties occur?
Remember that the first section of this module summarizes the information required in a final report. Be sure that the report that you submit is complete with two labs, two methods, a sufficient number of samples and that your sections are outlined and explained. Also be sure that your data is presented and an analysis is included.
