1. Human relation is defined by everything done with each other as human beings in all kinds of relationships. I think the book summed it up perfectly, it’s treating others with respect and dignity, following the Golden Rule. Police public relations are activities performed by police agencies designed to create a favorable image of themselves. Lastly, both human relations and public relations between the police and the community define police community relations. As the book stated, police community relations may either be positive or negative, depending upon the quality of police interactions with other citizens (human relations) and the collective images each holds of the other (which are public as well as human relations). I definitely think these relations affect policing. The relationship between police and community especially, this is something we are dealing with today. So many people look down on police instead of looking up to them and trusting that they will protect them. The public today, especially the media, have given police bad images, which has an impact on the relationship between the community and the police. I definitely think the public needs the police, just like the police need the public. They need each other to work.

2. The police community relation is important but it’s hard to achieve good relations. Some of the conflicts consists of police treating people differently or people not being happy with the choice the police make in a situation. People also have problems with human or public relations so with that being the case that also calls for bad relations so it makes the good police community relations hard to accomplish so we all have to work together to accomplish that, but it weighs heavier on the police to be able to accomplish this. Human relation is the foundation for community relations. Human relation consists of encounters made between people like an officer and citizens for an example. The situation between those two depend on the environment the officer is in and how the person decides to act. So to be safe we need to be sure we act appropriately around the officer and have respect for them as well. Public relations consist of the police trying to keep a respectable and maintained image. Some relations affect the ability to police because people feel they are being treated differently or because the people aren’t acting in a good mannered way so it’s important we all treat each other well and always have respect for one another. I think that the public needs us but also without the public police wouldn’t be able to create a good image or let others know exactly what is going on so we both need each other I would say.

3. Human relations is defined by what is done in all kinds of relationships as human beings. It is treating one another with respect, dignity and doing what is right for everyone. Police public relations are things that police agencies do to create better relationships with the community that implies the police are doing their job very well. Community relation is having the community involved in creating a better place to live with one another. An example of human relations would be a young man walking an elderly lady across a busy street which in turn would make her feel safer, just like having an officer in making rounds in a neighborhood may make the community feel safer. An example of public relations would be officers participating in a voluntary clean up crew at a local park. I personally think that we all need each other to survive this crazy world.

4. The significance in the three types of relations (Human, Public and Community) is that we all need each other to feelsafe. The police should be cordial to the citizens and the citizens should support their police. No one would want tolive in fear of, not only the crime rate in their area, but the police as well. Policing would not be effective withoutrelationships with community leaders and the citizens. Relations drastically affect the ability for police officers to do their job. If relations are bad, there would be no support from the public. The public would not help solve crime andwill not trust the police. Victims would not call for help thus allowing justice to be avoided for those who choose to break the law. The police and public need each other. There is no way to say it differently. Without the public, there would be no police, and without the police, there would be no public. We need a police force to bring peace and order but we also need the public to help solve crime by reporting what they see.
